Invitation to Membership

We welcome all who choose to own, love and care for Golden Retrievers – with interests ranging from pet companionship to responsible breeding, training and competition – and who share our regard and concern for this wonderful breed.  If you own or plan to own a Golden and are interested in learning more about caring for, training, showing or just plain enjoying your dog, we invite you to consider joining our club.

The Golden Retriever Club of Central New York, Inc. is dedicated to promoting responsible ownership and breeding of Golden Retrievers.  Founded in 1981 and incorporated in 1983, our aim is to protect and advance the interests of the breed.  We enjoy and encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and canine performance events.  We are licensed by the American Kennel Club and are a member club of the Golden Retriever Club of America.

Our membership is from throughout the region and includes first time owners as well as experienced handlers, trainers and breeders.   Club activities include: Regular meetings with frequent educational programs, Club sponsored shows & matches, special interest training seminars, field training days, health clinics and an annual banquet.  All members receive our bi-monthly newsletter, Golden Tales.  We are also proud to endorse and support the work of Golden Retriever Rescue of Central NY, Inc., and independent full service rescue and adoption program serving our region.

Membership Privileges – Options – Dues

Recognizing varying levels of desire or ability to participate in the Club’s many activities, we offer membership option.  All memberships receive basic club privileges: Participation in all meetings and events, Subscription to Golden Tales, Club directory listing, assisting in club activities and eligibility for Club awards. Note: dues are half the cost after July 1st.

Individual ($25) & Household ($30)

Individual (1 person) and Household (2 persons) applicants are elected to membership by other members.  After receipt, your application will be read at the next club meeting, which you must attend.  At the second meeting, with you again present, members will vote on acceptance.  In addition to basic membership privileges summarized above, Individual & Household members may vote and hold elected club office.  If you plan on attending meetings and participating in club activities, one of these options would likely be preferable.  Breeders who anticipate requesting referrals through the Club’s Puppy Referral Program should participate at this level.

Associate ($25)

Associate applicants are automatically accepted, needing neither to be elected nor meeting attendance.  Associate members may not vote and are not counted for meeting quorum purposes.   If you wish to receive the newsletter and participate only occasionally in meetings /events, this may be for you.
